I have two major passions in my life, history and nutrition. For the last twenty years I have been working on my knowledge of history, especially the history of Australia and all the facets of time that have led us into the twenty-first century. It's a fascinating subject and the adventures and mishaps experienced by my ancestors have taught me a lot about myself and my own abilities. Now I am turning my attentions to my other passion, nutrition and the use of it in our daily lives to prevent illness. To enhance my knowledge I have enrolled at the Australasian College of Natural Therapies undertaking an Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine. At the end of this study block I will also add an Adv. Dip of Naturopathy and a Certificate III in Pathology. My studies have just begun but my journey into the discovery of how food, exercise and natural therapies affect the way we feel has been going on for years. As someone who has suffered health issues all of my life, I have fought back from a stage 4 melanoma, defeated a major depressive disorder and lived my entire life with third degree burns that has damaged much of the circulatory system in my legs, I have been forced to seek out alternative ways to live my life. If I had listened to the doctors and those around me who often said "I would be better off dead", that is exactly where I would be now. But I love life too much to just give up and if the lessons I have learnt throughout the years are inspiration to just one other person, than my life is definitely worth living.
